At Crossdream Life forum earlier today I described myself as androgynous.
Why do I feel that that was a boring description? Why do I feel a little impatience with it? Why 'I suppose so (sigh)'?
Because right now it's exciting, sexy and powerful to be female, female, female. I'm fed up with the qualifications:' it's not the whole of me', 'I'm not saying this...', 'I'm not saying that...'.
This is Deborah's descent. Not a static position, a descent into increasing femininity, as I access more fully the female deep within my psyche.
There is a danger that I am getting carried away...
Yet I am proud and pleased to be happily acknowledging something that was lurking uneasily within me for so long. Somewhat actually thoroughly soft and sweet and good-natured, although also strong.
This experience is sexy but it's also a deep and important reorientation of my identity.
It's so much more interesting than watching television.

The game of self identification!
ReplyDeleteIt is troubling to see the emphasis shift on CL to an unquestioned, assumed self-evident self-identification in terms of gender dysphoric or non-gender dysphoric. Already there seems to be a waning appreciation of emergence and investment, as opposed our old enemy in a simplistic mediating biological essentialism, oh dear!
Well, a forum works better if self-interpretations are respected. As an existentialist I'm in favour of empowering the subjective. I don't see any disaster occurring as a result of waning appreciation of emergence and investment. Girls just wanna have fun!

I can't agree more about a place where people can enjoy crossdreaming collectively, but from the theoretical perspective it is worrying. It seems that it must be to a degree that one is at the expense of the another, unless theory had its own recognisable section.

I agree that a 'for theory queens only' place could be useful. There should be somewhere at which the search for truth isn't compromised by a desire for appealing conclusions. The whole world is bad at distinguishing the search for truth from the search for intellectual justification of personal preferences, though.
